Lumberjack Little Harvester and Very Good Work in the Forest 🤍 🤍 🤍 🤍 MERCH : 🤍
Here we see Stuart Brooking, Devon area manager for 🤍, working with Jim and Simon to manage some windblown spruce trees that are blocking a woodland track. This work is carried out for safety reasons, to renew access through the woodland and to allow use of the timber as firewood before the trees start to rot. We learn about the various stages involved in the extraction process, the different equipment used and the safety precautions necessary when working with the 27hp tractor and 3.5 tonne winch - which can get in between the trees. The larger tractor then takes over to pull the logs to a central point, ready to clear from the woodland. 🤍 An Adliberate film 🤍 for WoodlandsTV 🤍

Wood processing on our homestead smallholding in the UK. Welcome to our channel, we give our story about what we do around our smallholding in the heart of Herefordshire in the UK. There is always so much to do and in our videos we try to give a feeling of what it’s like to live in the countryside being close to nature with all the trials and tribulations that go with it. We keep sheep, grow much of our own food, have planted a vineyard and process all of our own firewood. Our workshop is not just the ‘shed’ at the end of the barn, but the workshop is also the land, the forest and everything that that entails. Hence ‘My Country Workshop’ is as much outdoors as it is inside. It's #TreeFelling time for us, of course with #ClimateChange in mind. I'll show you how to #harvest a tree ready for #sawing. It's all done by hand and without #pollution or offensive noise. These more #sustainable methods keep me fit, and also help to protect the environment and air quality. 0:00 The stool of a felled Alder tree 0:38 How to cut and angle a tree for felling 2:04 How to cut the fallen trunk 5:47 Completing the cuts 6:55 Using wedges to split the trunk 9:00 Summing up I need a large supply of #firewood and timber, every year; have a look at my #alternative - no CO2 - methods for #harvesting #trees. #Sustainable #logging without using engines has served me well for many years. Coppicing is the woodland management technique of repeatedly felling trees at the base. Yet there is no need to make a noise or pollute the environment, nor to disturb #wildlife in the #countryside. This film is made for adults and I am using a #bowsaw. Children should not attempt nor emulate what they see in this video, without competent supervision. Though this video might be useful in Education. Preferring #MusclePower over #engines: no #PowerTools appear in this film. This video is linked to my #Coppicing and #TreeFelling Special, made on Nov. 13, 2019. Wait for my comments at the end, and your comments and votes, up or down, are always welcome 👍 See my playlist at 🤍 In my last video for 2019 - made in #NorthDevon #UK, I explained and demonstrated how improved, #ecofriendly #logging practices protect my #Coppice, and the #EcoSystem. Plus of course I get a free #workout 😊 which I heartily recommend. Hello all, This is how i get fire wood without paying for it. Helping others is always a very good thing to do in life. Bartering for resources is better as no money exchanges hand, a perfect way to avoid funding the so called " elite". That's happy days !

Horse logging - is a sustainable forestry & ancient woodland management practice, using working horses. Horse loggers and horses still have a place in forestry. In four days, 47 tonnes of timber was hauled, horse logging, in Gwern Ddu woodland, Wales, UK. Youtube video documentary on horse logging. Horse logging is the removal of felled timber using horses. Horse-logging, or snigging, has grown very popular in recent years and for good reason: using horses in woodlands is traditional, eco-friendly and the horses can work in steep conditions where machinery would often get stuck. Horses can get to areas that machinery can’t get into and they work much more quietly than most forestry machinery: they are good neighbours where woodlands are near to housing. I created this video with the YouTube Video Editor (🤍 Footage from / all rights 🤍 Natural Resources Wales - featured channel. 🌳
At present around 40% of privately owned woodland in the New Forest is unmanaged. Through the Working Woodlands project the New Forest Land Advice Service aims to move these unmanaged woodlands back into sustainable management and improve the environmental, social and economic benefits delivered by woodlands. Many of the small private woodlands in the Forest are not accessible to the big heavy machinery as they do not have pathways or large rides through the trees that would sustain the weight and width the equipment requires. A ride is a break or pathway in the Forest for access and conservation purposes. These heavy vehicles can damage the delicate infrastructure and biodiversity of the Forest floor which thrives in these small areas. To overcome these constraints we have contracted a local horse logger Toby Hoad from Dorset Horse Logging to extract timber from a small wood in Pilley. The benefit of using horses is that they are very nimble, managing to weave in-between the trees only scarifying the woodland floor. Music by Gillicuddy, available from 🤍
Here a nice little video of us heading to Bastard Lane in Wales. 5 trucks head up over the top through a gate with a warning about the logging going on, we were sure to read exactly what it said and the Byway itself was open, but everything besides it was off limits due to heavy machinery working. We just see the start of the tricky parts coming up, unfortunately the GoPros batteries ran out, but we were filming by hand at this point. We have a few more videos coming up so make sure to hit that subscribe button and help get us to 1000! Thanks!

Met this bodacious dude at my temporary new spot ( pheasant poults arriving very soon ) I've dreamt of flying this spot since forever! Kevin is felling the dead and dying trees that have unfortunately succumbed to the unprecedented amount of tree diseases that we have these days, its absolutely ravaging the British countryside - some of these trees are hundreds of years old, an incredible amount of skill & experiance is required for this job on this steep valley & also the giant trunks are scarily unpredictable, I'm very fortunate to be able to fly hear and was stoked to meet a new friend : ) Yeah I’ve already used this track but I’m struggling to get mp3 to YT at the moment so it is what it is! 😅
