1470 lb. McGuire Twins vs. Dave Nevins & Mike York

Rare video from an old 8mm tape of the"World's Heaviest Twins", The McGuire Twins (Billy McCrary 730 lbs. & Benny McCrary 740 lbs.) wrestling Dave Nevins & Mike York. The McGuire twins, were listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the "World's Heaviest Twins", and were famous for riding small Honda motorcycles to promote upcoming matches. BTW: "Alaskan" Mike York is the wrestler wearing blue jeans... I was known as "Badboy" Dave Nevins, the wrestler in the blue butcher outfit. The referee was Wilf Jennings. Billy died following a motorcycle accident during a stunt at Niagra Falls. Stories were that ambulance officials couldn't get him into an ambulance in time to save his life. He was 32. Benny lost about half his weight and then in 2001 he died from a heart attack. He was 54. BTW: They were already in the Guinness Book of World Records as the World's Largest Twins, and a second entry shows the World's Largest Granite Tombstone stands at their gravesite. Sorry... no audio. Thanks to Larry Scott (Athletic Supplements) & Nick Forse (Graphic Designer) for making this ready for production. And special thanks to my sister Sharon Korang for getting this project started in the first place.

A few have actually been offended by this video, arguing that it's too hard on their beloved group. If that's you, be consoled there's nothing to fret about here. This is just some funny moments, and attempted levity. Of course, the Beatles were under crazy conditions, and tight enough to bounce through anything, with light hearts. Part of their big appeal is honesty about weaknesses, and not taking themselves too seriously. 2. Ringo: “Nobody was listening at the shows,” he said in Anthology. “That was OK at the beginning but it got that we were playing really bad.” John said he’d lose his voice at times and no one would notice. Even with that they were really tight overall. 3 At 5 min 30 secs, an Aussie guy named Brent McCauslan (19 yrs old) crashes the party. For an interview with Brent watch this: 🤍 4. There’s another funny microphone major goof in the middle of their worldwide All You Need is Love live broadcast 🤍 5. I included mic goofs (not generally the Beatles fault) because it was a part of Beatlemania. Somebody (Beatles, manager, techs, etc.) should have remedied this pattern. 6. Other funny goofs include during the Netherlands on Roll Over B when someone tries to put something in Paul's mouth; and at NME65 where they mess up the I Feel Fine lyrics. They are all over of course —this is not to pick on them — it’s just for fun. — Excellent Skype/Zoom healing sessions from Zia Nevins: 🤍 #beatlesgoofs #beatles #beatleslive #beatlesmistakes

Here are the original recordings covered by the Beatles, compared in brief side-by-side clips, which give a neat flavor as to what motivated them. 0:00 - Intro 0:44 - Comparisons 15:00 - Results Notes: 1. If anyone knows the original source recording for Til There Was You, please mention it in the comments. It's hard to believe that the Sophie Tucker, or Shirley Jones version was the motivator. Must've been the Peggy Lee version, but I wasn't sure if that was recorded before 1962 2. Though he's a legend, I believe it was Paul playing the nasty organ bit on Mr. Moonlight. 3. Apparently, these four names comprise 50% of the Beatles covers: Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Buddy Holly, Carl Perkins. Of the remaining covers, the majority are African America artists. 4. On this channel I've done a comparison with the BBC covers vs. the original artists. And this can also be done for the Decca audition, or the Star Club tape, which would take a lot more work, but I may do that as well someday. Here's the BBC comparison: 🤍 5. A commenter says: "Twist and Shout wasn’t written by the Isley Brothers, in fact, the Isley Brothers’ version is also a cover and not the original. The song was written by Phil Medley and Bert Berns and it was originally recorded and first released in 1961 by The Top Notes. The Isley Bros released it in 1962 and The Beatles in 1963." Nevins: Great point. Yet, clearly the Isley version was the inspiration. "Mastered" sounds pompous, but it's just the trade term for the last stage before audio distribution. I was just using it as a pun for the Beatles "masterpieces." (FYI: You may need a decent sound system to hear the improvements.) Ed Sullivan full shows are here: 🤍 Excellent Zoom healing sessions (w/ Zia Nevins): 🤍 Notes: a.) All of these have been processed using tools that help "tone-match" to FM radio specs, and then backed off to avoid it being too squashed. However, to even out these "rescues" sometimes heavy compression is unavoidable. To prioritize the buried vocals I sometimes chose to use the FM standards that slightly favor treble, at the risk of a lightly bright mix. This will vary on your sound system and ears, of course. b.) Volume for all cuts were measured to be the same pretty much the same perceived loudness, which was a "LUFS" cumulative value of -13 for music. This is because A-B test research shows that tracks louder can psychologically appear to be better quality, even if the recording is the same. So I tried not to slant results. c.) All of these are technically from "live" recordings (even the Please Please Me was a non-overdubbed studio performance), so care had to be taken to adjust levels. For example, if the vocals are too bright then analog plate reverb can be added to pull them back in to the mix; likewise, if the vocals are too far back, then the recording can be brightened to pull them forward, but possibly making the highs a little crisp. It's much trickier than it sounds! When successful, it should play effortlessly. This will be especially noticeable on cheaper ear buds; but I try to hit the sweet spot for all sound systems. d.) All these could be improved if I were working from the original sources instead of multiple generation copies. e.) To do a fair test technically, these need to played identically, blind-tested, side-by-side, in different orders, etc. But to keep attention, they are presented in a format that's easier to receive. f.) The Houston concert is unique to my mix. There may be another decent version out there somewhere, but I don't know of a decent restoration. g.) Live recordings often have stray, untamed, spiked frequencies, usually due to odd room acoustics. For example, in the Help! song, there was is a muddy tone around 160hz, which was even in the Apple 2016 film, that I have properly integrated to make the rest of the bass sound much more full. Enjoy -Dave - 00:00 - Intro 00:24 - Please Please Me 00:59 - I Saw Her Standing There 01:47 - She Loves You 02:31 - I Feel Fine 03:07 - Can't Buy Me Love 03:43 - Help 04:36 - A Taste of Honey 1. Please Please Me, early live studio take from the Anthology CD 1. 2. I Saw Her Standing There, from the famous first Ed Sullivan show: 🤍 3. She Loves You, live television from Sweden. 4. I Feel Fine, live television from Britain's Ready Steady Go, originally lip-synched to the I Feel Fine studio version, but to the Live at the BBC radio version from CD 2. 5. Can't Buy Me Love, live in Houston, US. 6. Help!, from the Blackpool, England, concert audio used from the 2016 Eight Days a Week movie. Here colorized blue. 7. The last song is A Taste of Honey from the BBC recordings never been heard before, as a post-processed recording. "

The book contains over 150 examples, a transcript of this interview, and an in-depth section of frequently asked questions for increasing our ability to hear more. For more visit: 🤍 Here is a sample (of over 150) from the book Surrendering to Abundance: "Enter Into My Presence" The Lord God is so much more than your songs, prayers, visions, thoughts—anything you can attempt to conceive of Me falls universes short of the least of My power. I transcend the earthly realm so greatly, so magnificently. If you only believed, for faith is truly the only vehicle I can give to My people to tap into My awesome being. There is no other faculty you possess that can begin to touch this. Intellect, imagination, deep thoughts are earthly gifts I give you, but they bring you no closer to My victory. This is why My graces are as open to the learned as to the uneducated, even to those lame of mind. The spirit in a man overcomes all for it is his connection to the eternal. Begin to tap into it more. Books and treatises are only helpful to the extent they might light a spark, but it is only your divine communion to the Savior that brings life-changing power. “I am the Alpha and Omega.” My infinite grace, power, knowledge, resources encompassed by My passionate love for you enter into every situation where you call on Me to intercede. Do not believe the lies—anything that ever causes you to think any less of My greatness and what I am capable of completely metamorphosizing—is a lie. I am more awesome in all I am than you will ever conceive in a million lifetimes. Mankind still fails to define or describe Me after how many centuries? Don’t think too long on Me—just enter into My presence and I will do the rest. "She sat at the Lord’s feet, listening to what he said." Luke 10

NEW! Amazon ABBEY ROAD 2019! 🤍 Notes: Thx for the feedback on my update. If you don’t think the second one is better, please let me know why. So here are some additional things you might try you might if you enjoy this subject. a.) compare several systems (e.g., car, phone buds, home stereo, PC stereo, home theater) b.) compare the first one, then second one, and then vice versa. The science of first impressions shows our ears bias toward the first thing we’ve heard, because it sets a baseline. c. ) blind test with friends, pro and amateur. d.) ask: on which mix do you hear more of the instruments better? e.) which mix sounds better at a soft volume? f.) which mix sounds better at a loud volume so that the muddy frequencies don’t prevent you from turning it up? g.) which mix produces more emotion? h.) This was referenced to approach common FM radio specs, so try comparing to FM. Subjectively, of course, either one can be a favorite; but I’m just curious why. Appreciate the feedback. Giles and the team have done a great job, but this is a pet peeve I noticed on the remixes for Sgt. Pepper, the White Album, and now Abbey Road. The White Album was inconsistent, which reflected the source style, but we can see a consistent pattern, where they prefer to accent the high bass( ~180hz); usually considered by engineers a place to hard clamp, to prevent a muddy mix. I suspect that this is do to the fact that there is a small, protected Abbey Road team w/ a need-to-know access, so they probably get few opportunities for external pro critique, much less online pre-review. I'm also guessing they are hearing primarily on a monitor that is engineered to prevent that the mud frequency from being too loud, so it's not as bothersome there. I know I’m a bit of a nut on the subject, but certain frequencies grate on me if they're not blended in. Plus I enjoy the fuller sense. Blah, blah, blah. Beatles -- Hollywood Bowl live -- [ new vs. old audio! Very different ]

22.11.2016

NEW! Beatles Complete Recording Sessions [ Amazon ] 🤍 I appreciate the thoughtful work that Giles Martin and his team do to restore the Beatle masterpieces. He seems to have carried on his father’s legendary class, nuance, feather-touch, attention to detail, and respect for the material. And though I do enjoy both mixes, on the Hollywood Bowl I think I prefer the original, heavier tone. Though rougher, the grist feels more complimentary to Beatlemania. Also, in the sales marketing, the promise was that we would feel closer to the band, yet the newly added digital echo on the vocals makes me now feel like I’m sitting further back. (Plus, the digital delay time needs adjusting to match the older analog reverbs.) Music mixing typically aims for either accurate detail or energetic passion you call it an intellectual approach vs. an emotional one. It’s hard to do both: to be accurate yet passionate. In fairness, the producer’s dilemma is that the younger audiences are used to, and may prefer, the lighter, crisper tone. But the history and atmosphere of the live Beatles seems to cry out for organic energy. I know the older style isn’t the popular modern style, but for this product, I think prefer the rougher recordings. Another challenge: During the 60s, engineers mixed more light, aware that radio compressors wound crunch the sound heavier. But today, since most music is not heard on the radio, the result really varies: Either: a.) engineers mix too heavy and then radio added compression crushes it; else, b.) it’s mixed too light, and when played on mobile earbuds, it sounds whimsical. Last, I should note that the new versions had the advantage of working from the *actual* original recordings; yet the source cuts I’ve included here to contrast was from copy-from-copies (even saved at an unimpressive 128kbps MP3 very smushy on the high frequencies!) In other words, it would be fantastic to hear a thick-style production mix, - yet using the original, crisp source recordings. That would really rock. Maybe one day Apple / EMI Records will release the separate original tracks and we can play with them. By the way, the John Lennon voice at the end is my impersonation – – I laughed because one of my friends insisted it was really John. Cheers! He was also the bouncer. Never heard about his brother Fred. On the 1977 album, both tracks were credited to "Herr Ober" (literally "Mister Waiter," another ruse to dodge EMI). Incidentally, the person who actually recorded this was a former Liverpool musician named Adrian Barber, the Star Club's resident sound engineer. (Some contend Ted Taylor of King Size Taylor and The Dominos was also responsible for the recording.) - Notes: 1. You can hear my alternate highlight cuts here: 🤍 2. Sets are not necessarily in chronological order. Recorded December 18 – 31, 1962. 3. One of my favorite live tapes is the roughly recorded "Beatles at the Star Club” album. It’s just good and crunchy. However, when I discovered this really rare version, you can hear it's obviously processed from something much closer to the original source. Not only is that obvious because of the additional material (e.g, long talk breaks) but also the gentler, more life-like production. 4. The original source tape was obviously in mono but whoever engineered this two-hour version [ called Zu Laut or "Too Loud" in German ] did a decent job of bringing out the sound, with artificial strereo. Lord Reich [?][ did this by applying reverb to the low bass and the high treble, but not the vocals or guitar in the mid-range, and it makes you feel like you’re a little more present in the room. Most attempts of adding reverb are pretty gruesome, but I respect this effort. 5. I like all of the versions of the Star Club recordings it really showcases why they always hearkened back to those zealous gigs yet I also understand why some modern listeners can't digest them. To me they all have pluses and minuses. But this here is a special rarity, for those who love this stuff. Enjoy! - Excellent Zoom healing sessions (w/ Zia Nevins): 🤍

You can get BBC recordings here [ Amazon ]: 🤍 Here are the original BBC radio recordings covered by the Beatles, compared in brief side-by-side clips; plus commentary. Notes: 1. Notice that To Know Him Is to Love Him is also the same tempo as This Boy. 2. Also on this channel is a video comparing the covers of the official albums releases 🤍 3. This video can also be done the Decca audition, or the Star Club tape, which would take a lot more work, but I may do that as well someday. 4. Calvert Morgan corrected me indicating that George got the solo for the Buddy Holly song “Crying, Waiting, Hoping” from the 1959 record that overdubbed the Fireballs' backing over Buddy's home demo. (Guitar by Donald Arnone.) The record I played was a second, later overdub that lacked the solo. I processed using vintage analog gear. More below and on the channel. Beatles biography by Bob Spitz [ famous book ] 🤍 0:00 - Intro 0:54 - Can't Buy Me Love 1:17 - I Feel Fine 1:44 - I Wanna Be Your Man 2:07 - That's Alright Mama 2:38 - Some Other Guy 3:03 - Roll Over Beethoven 3:17 - Things We Said Today Notes: 1. For any official release from Apple, YouTube will block any sample longer than 8 seconds. So to hear a little more fair cut of the mix, I slightly re-arranged bits in the song to make it easier to present sound. Sorry that this is so unnecessarily restrictive. Nobody wins from this stringent policy, of course. 2. My own preference is for a more thick, full, grungier sound; vs. a more think, light, cleaner sound. So since we already have the latter on the official recordings, I present these clips of possible options of how the album could be produced. 3. The audio was processed using using vintage gear. The ability to split from stereo to mono was doing using spectral analyzers, and there's a whole lot of info on that here: 🤍 4. I appreciate everyone's good comments; though I'm unable to provide the full tracks either these or other unprocessed ones. If you're interested in this, you can download a multi-track audio editor and use the monotostereo.info web site for into on how to split. If I post these to Vimeo I'm concerned Apple (or Vimeo) would come after me; plus it doesn't send people to this channel. 5. The only one not edited was Roll Over Beethoven because for some reason the system gave me a pass to post 13 secs of the cut. 6. My fave on here is I Feel Fine which has an amazing performance. Some Other Guy is a bit rough in the treble, but the song is so cool, I had to include it. And its bass is full. Energy, man. Enjoy #beatles #beatlesbbc #liveatthebbc

Zia and I have a new course on Healing: 🤍 🤍 🤍 NEW! Beatles latest - [ Amazon ] 🤍 NEW! Beatles Complete Sessions [ Amazon book ] 🤍 — I remember a long time ago I heard the BBC recording of one version of the song Misery and I just thought the last part of it was really cool. I never thought I’d make a video about it but here it is. I don’t even happen to like the song in particular but I justI love the way John’s voice sounds on The coda. Then I was checking with the record and noticed it was a different melody. And in fact the cut that is presented here is from an outtake where John quite doesn’t make the note as smooth but it still sounded interesting enough to include. I also repeated both of them twice just to make the point more clearly. It’s easier to hear that way. Excellent Skype/Zoom healing sessions; and 8hr audio course (Zia Nevins): 🤍 🤍
