Kettlebell Long Cycle is a Clean and a Jerk of the bell. You'll see this predominantly in kettlebell Sport competitions (one arm and two arm events in the Long Cycle format). This is a fun workout to gauge where you are with a solid 10-minutes of clean and jerk at a weight you can swing safely and efficiently. The layout is simple; With a 10-minute clock swing the kettlebell into the rack position and perform one clean and jerk. Return the kettlebell to the rack and repeat. You can switch the kettlebell to the alternate arm once in the 10-minutes. Once you set the kettlebell down - your workout is done. Go for as many reps as possible. The BEaST kettlebells in the US - 🤍 Honored Master of Sport in Kettlebell Sport, Honored Trainer of Russia, Sergey Rachinskiy (Сергей Рачинский) demonstrates Long Cycle Jerk with two 32kg (70lb) kettlebells 41 reps in 5 minutes.
This was my first ever attempt at a 10 minute Kettlebell Long Cycle. I completed the entire 10 minutes with 75 reps. It is not perfect by any mean at all! I have to correct some form yes, but that is how you learn. Next attempt will be with 16kg or 20kg just depends on how the progress goes
This workout is challenging to say the least. What we are going to do is a 1-10 ladder of Long cycle (clean and jerk) and push-ups. I want you to complete this as fast as you can while keeping your form the best you can. I will challenge you to never let go of the kettlebells for this entire workout. You of course can set them down, but in the spirit of kettlebell sport make sure your hands are always on the handles even if you are resting. For this workout I used two 24kg bells. Kettlebell Long Cycle is not what people think it is. It isnt exercises done for a long duration, it is clean and jerk in kettlebell sport . However many people's timing is off when they put these exercises together for repetitions. Check the timing of dip, drive and undersquat.
