Reykjavik is the capital of Iceland and about 60% of Iceland's entire population lives in the Greater Reykjavik area. It's a small city and very easy to get around by walking. One of the things that makes Reykjavik unique is that there is some very cool street art on the buildings and on the streets. We were there in summertime and spent a lot of time walking on Reykjavik's main street, Laugavegur. We also visited the unmistakable Hallgrímskirkja Church, which is one of Iceland's tallest structures, which is why you can get the best views of Reykjavik from the observation deck. We ate lunch at the most famous hot dog stand in all of Iceland, Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur, which was once picked as the best hot dog stand in all of Europe! We then walk past Austurvöllur, a main square, and passed by the Parliament Building and Reykjavik Cathedral. From there, we walked to Tjörnin Pond, where City Hall is located, but it also features perhaps the strangest statue in Europe: The Monument to the Unknown Bureaucrat. It was then time to visit the nearby Settlement Exhibition which was built around the ruins of a Viking Longhouse. Near the harbor, we visited the famous Sun Voyager steel sculpture and walked by the architectural landmark, Harpa Concert Hall. From there, we walked on a happening street named Bankastræti and then back in the other direction on Laugavegur. 0:00 Intro/Keflavik Airport 0:16 Street Art Buildings 0:55 Laugavegur (Main Shopping/Restaurant Street) 3:50 Rainbow Street (Skólavörðustígur) 4:05 Hallgrímskirkja Church (Best Views of Reykjavik) 5:46 Iceland's Best Hot Dog Stand (Bæjarins Beztu Pylsur) 7:53 Austurvöllur (Main Square) 8:26 Parliament Building 8:41 Reykjavik Cathedral 8:57 Statue of Jón Sigurðsson (Leader of Icelandic Independence) 9:08 Hotel Borg (Reykjavik's First Luxury Hotel) 9:14 Tjörnin (Pond) and City Hall 9:23 Monument to the Unknown Bureaucrat 10:14 Tjörnin Pond and Sea Gulls 11:22 City Hall 11:29 Settlement Exhibition (Built Around Ruins of Viking Longhouse) 13:09 Sun Voyager Sculpture 13:32 Harpa Concert Hall 14:26 Walking on Bankastræti and Laugavegur Where I Get My Music: Pond5 Royalty-Free Music: 🤍 If you click on the link, you'll get 20% off your first purchase of Pond5 royalty-free music, video clips, photographs, or special effects. It is located in southwestern Iceland, on the southern shore of Faxaflói bay. Its latitude is 64°08' N, making it the world's northernmost capital of a sovereign state. With a population of around 131,136 (and 233,034 in the Capital Region), it is the center of Iceland's cultural, economic, and governmental activity, and is a popular tourist destination. Reykjavík is believed to be the location of the first permanent settlement in Iceland, which, according to Landnámabók, was established by Ingólfr Arnarson in AD 874. Until the 19th century, there was no urban planning in the city location. The city was founded in 1785 as an official trading town and grew steadily over the following decades, as it transformed into a regional and later national centre of commerce, population, and governmental activities. It is among the cleanest, greenest, and safest cities in the world. (wikipedia) ! We are on the hunt to find delicious and traditional Icelandic foods right here in Reykjavik, whilst also giving you an idea on the costs of food and groceries here in Iceland. First stop we headed to Kaffibrennslan to try or favourite thing ever...coffee of course before heading out to Vagninn on the water to try some street food fish and chips with remoulade pickled mayonnaise sauce. Next up and the dish we were most excited to try was Lobstersoup from Seabaron as well as their Haddock fish kebab before heading off to the 10-11 grocery store to show you the cost of eggs, milk and bread and whilst we were there we had to try Skyr yoghurt and appelsin soda. To end our food tour in Reykjavik we made our way to Cafe Loki to try Rye bread icecream and mashed fish on rye bread as well as herron with eggs. Yes we realise there are a lot of strange Iceland food out there like fermented shark and horse head, in this video we just wanted to show you some delicious foods rather than the weird ones :) Where we ate: Coffee Spot: Kaffibrennslan Fish & Chips: Vagninn Lobstersoup & Haddock Fish Kebab: Seabaron Grocery Store: 10-11 Grocery Rye Bread Icecream: Cafe Loki Iceland Trip with Intrepid Travel (One Week Camping in Iceland): 🤍 Where we get our incredible music from: 🤍 (- you can also sign up and get a month free of royalty free Travel Vlog & YouTube music Gear we shot this video with - 🤍 SUBSCRIBE TO NEVER MISS AN EPISODE: 🤍 FLYING THE NEST: Website • 🤍 Facebook • 🤍 Twitter • 🤍 Snapchat • 🤍 STEPHEN: Instagram • 🤍 Twitter • 🤍 JESS: Instagram • 🤍 Twitter • 🤍 - Hi, we are Stephen & Jess, Australian vloggers documenting our first year of leaving home and travelling around the globe. Hello! Welcome back to Ivaintures. This video is about exploring the nightlife in reykjavik iceland. It is an iceland nightlife 4K video. You will get to experience reykjavik nightlife in 4K. During my stay in Iceland, i didn't use an iceland travel guide. Instead, i was venturing out alone. I believe that for Reykjavik it's the best way to visit iceland. The iceland girl that appears on my video was inside the club Solon in reykjavik. the way it is normally on a Saturday evening. It stays bright all night and all morning long. It is very easy to forget what time it is and keep on drinking. Due to its small size, the city of Reykjavik is perfect for bar crawls. It's also one of the safest cities in the world. Enjoy this video of the nightlife in reykjavik iceland! PLEASE KINDLY SUBSCRIBE ! . Today we share 10 things to know before you go to Iceland including when to visit Iceland, things to know before you visit Iceland and where to go in Iceland. We also share both what to pack for Iceland Summer and what to pack for Iceland Winter. We give some Iceland budget travel tips, things to do in Iceland and general Iceland travel tips to help those planning a trip to Iceland. Iceland has so much to offer visitors who love gorgeous landscapes and unique travel experiences. However, there are a few things you need to know before you go. 1. When to visit - When to visit Iceland is always the big question. Summer brings somewhat slightly warmer weather and longer days whilst Winter is perfect for the Northern Lights. Ideally, we recommend you visit from June to August to make the most out of the Midnight Sun and longer days. However, if you are set on seeing the Northern lights, make sure you visit in February, March, September and October. It is worth noting that the northern lights are not visible in the Summer months. 2. Always pack thermals or wool - No matter when you visit, you will need layers, thermals and/or wool. Iceland is cold, especially if you are visiting the Highlands or South Coast. 3. Limited daylight - Visiting in Winter brings its own type of magic but you need to plan your trip carefully. Daylight is very limited in the winter months - with darkness for almost 20 hours a day on the shortest days of the year. You are much more likely to see the Northern Lights during this time but just plan your days carefully 4. Bring a sleep mask - So Winter is dark but the summer is bright! The midnight sun should not be taken lightly; it shines almost all night so pack a sleep mask to be able to sleep. Most hotels have black-out drapes but it is worth bring those eye masks just incase! 5. Book everything in advance - Iceland is incredibly popular but also very limited in the way of restaurants, tours and hotels. Book everything in advance, even restaurant reservations. 6. Make sure you visit Reykjavik - The capital is charismatic and quirky, definitely a place you should visit during your trip. It is a great idea to use the city as a base then travel out to the sights each day. 00:00 INTRO 00:33 WHEN TO VISIT 01:08 ALWAYS PACK THERMALS 01:38 LIMITED DAYLIGHT 02:06 BRING A SLEEP MASK 02:31 BOOK EVERYTHING IN ADVANCE 03:01 VISIT REYKJAVIK 03:20 VISIT THE SIGHTS 03:39 RENT A CAR 04:17 USE CREDIT CARDS 04:30 AVOID ALCOHOL 04:54 OUTRO Watch the video for more...
