A tutorial for those who want to learn of how to collect all parts in the Distant Spring in one day. Twitch Channel: 🤍 Personal Best Records: 🤍 Follow me for updates: 🤍
In this part, we fully explore the fourth area of the game, The Distant Spring, over three days. Being the last full area, its difficulty level is quite high. The monsters here are ruthless, and half of the world is comprised of water areas.
Distant Spring during morning, recorded in game for 12 minutes. Wanted to try out recording just audio using a different program, so I tried out with this particular theme since I like it a lot. Used "wizard magic" to stop the time of day and have it sit at morning. Obviously I don't own the game or it's assets.
Here's an arrangement of The Distant Spring theme from the game Pikmin! At 1:46 the combat variation comes in, and then at 3:28 and 5:10 I composed variations for Pikmin carrying items and performing tasks, respectively. I hope you enjoy it! In 2 weeks I will definitely upload a new Pikmin trivia video. Sorry for the delay on that.
Progg saves the day...! This drops the minimum day completion for this category from 21 to 20. Dealing with the water dumples was literal hell.

1:19 improvement and ends with 7:04 remaining. The majority of the timesave comes from a more efficient route.
I don't make videos like this... ever, but I like this song and I hadn't seen anyone do this yet so I took it into my own hands. I don't know, maybe I'll do more, but I don't have any plans at the moment. Credit to Mr. HeliX for first upload, original video here: 🤍 Nintendo Land is a game made by Nintendo for the Wii U. An original cover of the "The Distant Spring" theme from the first Pikmin game, with some original artwork. I knew this one would be tricky, being that it's mostly ambient, and it certainly was; but now that it's done, I'm happy with how it turned out. Still chugging along on that Pikmin EP. The further into the game I go, the more difficult it seems to become, but I'm determined to finish. The final product should be fairly cinematic, with transitions and extended versions of the songs I've already uploaded. Fingers crossed that I can get at least the other important songs down by ear. All music and artwork by Tony Berg, based on assets created and owned by Nintendo.

And funnily enough, it coincided with the announcement that Pikmin 4 will be coming out next year, so I really wanted to buckle down and make this arrangement a little celebration! Listen out for some callbacks to other Pikmin underground music during the Underground section, for which I have Waffles to thank for the lovely samples! *Instruments used* • Live recorder • Xylophone, marimba - East West Hollywood Percussion • Glass marimba - Logic Sampler • Tubular bells, vibraphone - samples from Waffles's Pik Pack • Hang drum - Ample Percussion Clouddrum • Timpani, timpani rolls - East West Hollywood percussion • Xylophone and marimba - East West Hollywood Percussion • Staccato string section - mix of Spitfire Audio LABS and East West Hollywood Strings • Solo strings - 8Dio Intimate Studio Strings • Bagpipe - East West Ra • Talking drum, maracas, congas, & tambourine - Logic loops • Electronic bass drum - Logic Drum Machine Designer ("Depth Charge") • Snare drum, bass drum, & cymbals - East West Hollywood Percussion • Glockenspiel - sample from Waffles's Pik Pack • Small metallic percussion - East West Stormdrum 2 • Hi-hat - East West ProDrummer Joe Chiccarelli • Low descending synth - Logic ES2 custom patch • Distorted kabuki percussion - sample from Waffles's Japan Pack • Metal percussion melody - mix of Waffles's Pik Pack (Byeon Group Tuned) and Logic Sculpture (custom patch) • Flute - East West Hollywood Woodwinds • Pikmin 2 instruments - samples from Waffles's Pik Pack (Lite Pipe, Bass Clarinet Staccato 1, Pan Bottle, Legend Mute, Temple Block, Udu, Tablas, Brite Steel, Jaco's Bass, & Synth Violin)
Overall route created by Noamoa. I made several modifications: -starting with 100 blues as this would likely be how an actual TAS would start the day. The benefit of this is marginal as the blues are quickly killed off to make room for the yellows. -routing of the first 3 parts -late ACB -IJ after CR (requires snitchbug clip) -faster ZR route by destroying the gray gate -delaying the UV Lamp grab and instead speeding up the Bowsprit -collecting the Bowsprit at the end Aside for the snitchbug clip, the rest of this should be doable RTA (with some safer movement around the bulbears).

Days 9, 10 & 11: The Distant Spring. We explore this new area and get all 10 ship parts in what could've been 2 days, but some slip ups pushed it into 3 days. This area is the most challenging in the game, but also the most fun to try and speedrun.
Improved: 🤍 The purpose of this video is to demonstrate a new Distant Spring challenge mode route that could potentially be viable for RTA. The video is indeed a TAS but a very low optimized one because I wanted it to resemble what an actual RTA attempt would look like. As a result, I did not manipulate pellet drops at all, there was no frame advancing, and pretty much everything is doable in real-time. The most TAS thing done is the flint beetle snipes but that would be necessary for an RTA completion anyway. Besides that I only manipulated the wollywogs to not jump when being swarmed. Ultimately I had 2:20 to spare and the gameplay was far from optimal. A legitimate TAS could likely save minutes over this. I think if someone were crazy enough they could definitely get a max completion on this level.
Non-TAS and played on console. The perfect score without flint beetles! Everything else was collected and routed to the proper onion without any deaths. There are only 3 pellets from each flint beetle left before this level is maxed.
After reworking the majority of the day, I managed to come up with a route that incorporates the gluon drive as well as the massage machine into a single route. This lowers the theoretical minimum day completion for low% from 8 days to 7. Doing this rta is absolutely out of the question though. This required a ton of experimentation and thought over the past few weeks and I'm glad it's over.

Here we are. It's all been leading up to this. Soon I will be the first person to beat pikmin 1 with only red pikmin! Countless hours of theorising and glitch hunting to increase the maximum amount, and now 30/30 is possible. In this series I will show the modern strategy to collect all parts with only reds. Distant spring has the highest number of obstacles per part, each part has at least one non-standard trick to collect it, in fact all but one them have at least 2 tricks. It’s only natural DS takes the most number of days to complete. Sometimes a part will clip through the floor due to a sudden application of some force, such as a hitbox from a bridge or bulbear. How it behaves out of bounds is something I've started calling a part warp. I don't know properly how it works, but parts can reappear above ground after a short time, either exactly where it clipped into the ground or, much more usefully, somewhere completely different, like the other side of a gate, or near the landing site. I used this phenomenon a lot for parts in DS. The distant spring clear was a frustrating one. Lots of individual parts require part pushing. Since my original strategies, I've heavily reduced the distance to push (with better waypoint displacement locations) and the effort required (using object to indirectly push denser parts). I think I've discovered that my least favourite thing is trying to push parts through gates with wollywogs. I could have finished DS 1-2 days faster if I had gotten PS, ZR and IJ2 through the gate in a single day. After a little while of trying I decided to just continue 1 day slower than it would have been. The low-day completion doesn't matter terribly to me at the moment. I don't expect I will try to lower the human day count completion from 24, which it will be. You can watch this live on Twitch 🤍
