One of the most egregiously under developed new feature. That port just spits out raw data. No brain. No power. The dongle is the brain powered by RJ45. It's like they sell you a radio, but all you really bought is an empty box with an antenna. You gotta buy the internals separately. This thing should be sold at cost to manufacture.
In my pain cave I have a small Unifi switch for my PC, monitor, and music streamer, and I plan to plug the Direct Connect into it as well. In the video he mentions router and direct PC connection, does anyone know if a switch connection will also work? Same subnet and network. Thanks.
Does this work on Zwift yet?
Had a question. You said it works by plugging directly into a laptop with an ethernet port. Have you tested connecting directly into an Apple TV ethernet port?
Not sure what you was talking about. Plug into the internet then don’t need ant+. Don’t work on zwift. Can you show us how it works with zwift. It seems to confusing. When ant+ works ok.
I use the Google Nest router. It has only one ethernet port which is connected to an unmanaged network switch. Will the connecting the direct connect to the network switch work?
Does this work with Apple TV? I know SF is not on ATV, but if Zwift supports this direct connect in the future, then it might be handy.
I use BT and feel like i drop out every ride at least once.
Nice video... curious re your Ant+ that gave you so many dropouts..... how close is your Ant+ dongle to your trainer? Are you using an $8 extension cable to put the dongle right next to your trainer? Thanks
My kickr heart rate sensor sticking to a particular heart rate not moving, any suggestions
should be biult in to the trainer $100 for a $10 network adapter
is KICKR Direct Connect with the Kickr Bike compatible?
How many times did you say the word “connect”? JK great video!!
My main problem is with ERG mode varying when I’m doing a workout. The power and cadence values can suddenly either jump higher or drop lower.
The price on the adapter is simply outrageous! $99 for what should be included in the box! Better still, the port on the KickR should just be a LAN port in the first place with no necessary adapter since the port serves no other purpose. It should be listed as a stand out feature to differentiate it from the crowd of other high end smart trainers. Instead, we get "you can direct connect it, just gives us another $99 for a dongle". FYI, I own both a Kickr 2020 and a Kick Core. I also use a Wahoo Elemnt and generally been very impressed by Wahoo's products but this leaves a very sour taste and a negative impact on my opinion of the company.
Does the wahoo direct connect work with a iPad Pro if a usb-c to Ethernet dongle is used?
I use Ant+ connection but I do not have any dropouts as far as I know. It only happened once to lose the riders in my ride, but that was more of a PC to router dropout. The question is, considering that there must be a Smart trainer to PC connection, why not have a USB port on any smart trainer which would increase the speed of communication Smart trainer to PC? Smart trainers should be smart enough to support a USB connection to another device. I think this would be a logical choice. Then you can connect any time the PC to a router, via network cable, and improve drastically the reaction time between your app (if interactive) and your trainer. Maybe the adapter provided by Wahoo should have had an USB option beside the network one.
