🤍 There’s a line from a classic martial arts film “When my opponent expands, I contract, and when he contracts, I expand.” Perhaps no one exemplifies this characteristic to such a great degree as Smokin Joe Frazier. Frazier combined brilliant defense from a tight, compact guard, with open, aggressive offense. His timing and his ability to pick his shots seem otherworldly. It can be argued his trilogy with Muhammad Ali is to this day the best rivalry in boxing history. The two men brought out the very best in eachother, and if you haven’t watched those 3 fights, I would highly recommend it. The most devastating punch Frazier landed on Ali, and the rest his competitors, was his terrifying lead hook. Frazier threw this punch with everything he had, often losing his balance and turning his back to his opponent if he missed. But when he connected… So how did Frazier set up this wild, reckless shot with such consistency and accuracy? It all has to do with the unique way that Frazier stalked and walked down his opponents.

10 Joe Frazier Greatest Knockouts Please support my channel. It can buy me another cup of coffee :) Joseph William Frazier (January 12, 1944 – November 7, 2011), nicknamed "Smokin' Joe," was an American professional boxer who competed from 1965 to 1981. Frazier was known for his strength, durability, formidable punching power, and relentless pressure fighting style and was the first boxer to beat Muhammad Ali. He reigned as the undisputed heavyweight champion from 1970 to 1973 and as an amateur won a gold medal at the 1964 Summer Olympics. Frazier emerged as the top contender in the late 1960s, defeating opponents that included Jerry Quarry, Oscar Bonavena, Buster Mathis, Eddie Machen, Doug Jones, George Chuvalo, and Jimmy Ellis en route to becoming undisputed heavyweight champion in 1970, and he followed up by defeating Ali by unanimous decision in the highly-anticipated Fight of the Century in 1971. Two years later, Frazier lost his title to George Foreman. Frazier fought on and beat Joe Bugner, lost a rematch to Ali, and beat Quarry and Ellis again. Frazier's last world title challenge came in 1975, but he was beaten by Ali in the brutal rubber match, the Thrilla in Manila. Frazier retired in 1976 after a second loss to Foreman and made a comeback in 1981. He fought just once before retiring for good, finishing his career with a record of 32 wins, 4 losses, and 1 draw. The International Boxing Research Organization rates Frazier among the ten greatest heavyweights of all time. The Ring magazine named him Fighter of the Year in 1967, 1970, and 1971, and the Boxing Writers Association of America (BWAA) named him Fighter of the Year in 1969, 1971 and 1975. In 1999, The Ring ranked him the eighth greatest heavyweight. BoxRec currently ranks him as the seventh-greatest fighter to have faced only heavyweights during his professional career. Four of his victorious fights received a five-star rating from BoxRec. He is an inductee of both the International Boxing Hall of Fame and the World Boxing Hall of Fame. His style was often compared with that of Henry Armstrong and occasionally Rocky Marciano and was dependent on bobbing, weaving, and relentless pressure to wear down his opponents. His best-known punch was a powerful left hook, which accounted for most of his knockouts. In his career, he lost to only two fighters, both former Olympic and world heavyweight champions: twice to Muhammad Ali and twice to George Foreman. After retiring, Frazier made cameo appearances in several Hollywood movies and two episodes of The Simpsons. His son Marvis became a boxer, who was trained by Joe Frazier himself. Marvis lost a title shot to heavyweight champion Larry Holmes in 1983 and was knocked out in the first round by an up-and-coming Mike Tyson in 1986. Marvis ended his career with a record of 19 wins and those 2 losses. Frazier daughter Jacqui Frazier-Lyde also boxed professionally and is a former WIBA world light-heavyweight champion and ended her career with a record of 13 wins and 1 loss, with her sole loss coming in a majority decision points loss to Laila Ali, Ali's daughter, in a fight dubbed as "Ali–Frazier IV." Frazier continued to train fighters in his gym in Philadelphia. His attitude towards Ali in later life was largely characterized by bitterness and contempt but was interspersed with brief reconciliations. Frazier was diagnosed with liver cancer in late September 2011 and admitted to hospice care. He died of complications from the disease on November 7, 2011. #10JoeFrazierknockouts #SmokinJoeFrazierknockouts #JoeFrazierHighlights

March 8, 1971 Madison Square Garden, New York, NY Closed Circuit Broadcast Billed as "The Fight of the Century", this contest between Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier would be the first time in history that two undefeated fighters faced each other for the heavyweight title. In 1971, both Ali and Frazier had legitimate claims to the title of World Heavyweight Champion. An undefeated Ali had won the title from Sonny Liston in Miami Beach in 1964, and successfully defended his belt up until he had it stripped by boxing authorities for refusing induction into the armed forces in 1967. In Ali's absence, the undefeated Frazier garnered two championship belts through knockouts of Buster Mathis and Jimmy Ellis. He was recognized by boxing authorities as the World Champion. Unlike Mathis and Ellis, Frazier was plausibly Ali's superior, which created a tremendous amount of hype and anticipation for a match pitting the two undefeated fighters against one another to decide who was the true heavyweight champ. The fight itself exceeded even its promotional hype and went the full 15-round championship distance. At the end of round 14 Frazier held a lead on all three scorecards (by scores of 8–6–0, 10–4–0, and 8–6–0). Early in round 15, Frazier landed a left hook that put Ali on his back. Ali, his jaw swollen grotesquely, got up from the blow quickly, and managed to stay on his feet for the rest of the round despite several terrific blows from Frazier. A few minutes later the judges made it official: Frazier had retained the title with a unanimous decision, dealing Ali his first professional loss

Roosterman/Rooster4Life Presents my first video since being suspended, I thought it would be fitting for it to be for Smokin Joe Frazier, As we celebrate the new year of 2012 lets look back at one of the saddest moments of 2011, and Celebrate the Life of an amazing man, father, hero and Champion, Boxing Fans this is my Final goodbye to Smokin joe Frazier. Frazier was diagnosed with liver cancer in late September 2011. Within a few weeks, the cancer had metastasized. By November 2011, he was under hospice care, where he died on November 7. Upon hearing of Frazier's death, Muhammad Ali said, "The world has lost a great champion. I will always remember Joe with respect and admiration".Frazier's private funeral took place on 14 November at the Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church in Philadelphia, and in addition to friends and family was attended by Muhammad Ali, Don King, Larry Holmes, Magic Johnson, Dennis Rodman, among others. He was later buried at the Ivy Hill Cemetery, a short drive from the Enon Tabernacle Baptist Church. Joseph William "Joe" Frazier (January 12, 1944 November 7, 2011), also known as Smokin' Joe, was an Olympic and Undisputed World Heavyweight boxing champion, whose professional career lasted from 1965 to 1976, with a one-fight comeback in 1981. Frazier emerged as the top contender in the late 1960s, defeating opponents that included Jerry Quarry, Oscar Bonavena, Buster Mathis, Eddie Machen, Doug Jones, George Chuvalo, and Jimmy Ellis en route to becoming undisputed heavyweight champion in 1970, and followed up by defeating Muhammad Ali on points in the highly-anticipated "Fight of the Century" in 1971. Two years later Frazier lost his title when he was knocked out by George Foreman. He fought on, beating Joe Bugner, losing a rematch to Ali, and beating Quarry and Ellis again. Frazier's last world title challenge came in 1975, but he was beaten by Ali in their brutal rubbermatch. He retired in 1976 following a second loss to Foreman. He made a comeback in 1981, fighting just once, before retiring for good. The International Boxing Research Organization (IBRO) rates Frazier among the ten greatest heavyweights of all time. He is an inductee of both the International Boxing Hall of Fame and the World Boxing Hall of Fame. Frazier's style was often compared to that of Henry Armstrong and occasionally Rocky Marciano. He was dependent on bobbing, weaving, grunting, snorting as he grimaced with all out aggression wearing down his opponents with relentless pressure. His best known punch was a powerful left hook, which accounted for most of his knockouts. After retiring, Frazier made cameo appearances in several Hollywood movies, and two episodes of The Simpsons. His son Marvis became a boxer — trained by Frazier himself — although was unable to emulate his father's success. Frazier continued to train fighters in his gym in Philadelphia. His later years saw the continuation of his bitter rivalry with Ali, in which the two periodically exchanged insults, interspersed with brief reconciliations. Technique Books: 🤍 Mortal Weapons the Fight Comic: 🤍 Podcast: 🤍 Patreon: 🤍 It had been two years since Joe Frazier had won a hard fought decision over Muhammad Ali. Frazier had defended his championship twice after fighting Ali, and Ali had defeated 9 straight competitors. All the world was demanding a rematch. Frazier intended that to happen, but first, he set his sights on the number one contender. George Foreman was a 4 to 1 underdog, and Frazier expected to be a mere stepping stone on his path to a monumental second fight with Ali. But George Foreman would be anything but easy. By the time Foreman fought Frazier, he had racked up 37 victories in 3 years, most of them ending by knockout in the first few rounds. It was already becoming apparent that Foreman had possibly the greatest punching power of any boxer, or perhaps any fighter, in history. But Foreman swung wide, and seemed to lack technique. As such, Frazier was expected to teach him a lesson in real boxing. The night came, and the two men met in the middle of the ring, Frazier rocking back and forth, but Foreman standing stock still, staring Frazier down, looking eerily calm, no hint of fear in his eyes. The two men both rushed forward.
